A major earthquake with a richter scale of 7.8 hit Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province of China on 12 May 2008, causing huge casualties and extensive damage to property. Relief and rescue efforts are carried out in full swing by the Chinese Government and people.

People from all walks of life in Singapore are greatly concerned with the situation in the disaster-stricken areas and have been making phone calls to our embassy to convey their condolences and express their willingness to contribute funds, to which we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude.

In light of this, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Singapore has opened a special account to receive contributions in cash or by telegraphic transfers and Giro, the details of which are as follows:
