Vice-Chairman Huang Mengfu meets PM Goh

Vice-Chairman of the 10th CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) Huang Mengfu met Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on August 1, when they discussed topics including strengthening Sino-Singaporean relations and bilateral economic & trade cooperation.

Mr. Huang briefed PM Goh on China’s significant success achieved in the fight against SARS and China’s sound economic momentum. He spoke highly of the Sino-Singaporean relations and bilateral economic & trade cooperation, and vowed that ACFIC was to provide service for both Chinese and Singaporean business communities.

PM Goh congratulated the Chinese people that under the new generation leadership, China took firm measures in the anti-SARS war and achieved victory, which was also attributed to China’s new-elected government.  Singapore was also glad to see that China succeeded in economic development despite of the impact of SARS. China’s development would end in more outbound Chinese investment and more Chinese travelers going abroad, which would be favorable to countries of this region.

PM Goh said Sino-Singapore cooperation maintained a good momentum. Singapore welcomed more Chinese enterprises to set up business in Singapore and was willing to provide facilitation for their investment and business in the ASEAN region. Goh Chok Tong also indicated that he was looking forward to visiting China at an early date.

Mr. Hu Deping , ACFIC Vice Chairman and Mr. Luo Zhaohui , Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore were present at the meeting.

Invited by Network China, Mr. Huang Mengfu started his visit to Singapore on July 31 via Malaysia. Both sides signed the ACFIC-Network China MOU on the same day.
